ApartmentHub

A customized ApartmentHub listing contains only the information relevant to the user.

For my seminar course, we proposed a tool that could support information management and sensemaking. Our goal was to select a task and develop an application that would support users by easing cognitive load.

We propose ApartmentHub to support apartment seekers in organizing, sharing, and revisiting their apartment search findings. ApartmentHub facilitates the swift extraction and formatting of relevant information from listings, and provides users with documents that can be easily filtered, tagged, and shared. These customized listings provide users with a personalized housing database. By providing a cohesive “look” and organizational structure, ApartmentHub supports apartment seekers in the often chaotic process of finding a new home.

ApartmentHub mediates the scattered quality of apartment finding by extracting only relevant information, and collecting it in one location. Apartment listings of interest are neatly organized and are easily re-discovered using the system’s various filtering options. The standardized structure of each listing makes sharing easier. Additionally, by collecting in one location all apartments of interest, ApartmentHub provides users with a more tailored, customized apartment database to browse.

My contributions include: background research, survey design, scenario creation, user testing protocol creation, user testing and analysis, data synthesis, prototype interaction flow, project report writing.
